Been hearing about them for years and even seen them on TV but today I saw them live today for the first time at Gt Yarmouth Maritime Festival. First rate and what a wonderful job you all do for the lifeboats!

Hello ,

Can I please get a copy of the lyrics of the shantey, "Rattle Them Winches.?"

I sent an email to Bob, the Chairman also.

Thank you very much for your help.

Regards, George

Chanced upon the Shantymen, courtesy of Mr YouTube and his website. Superb! I'm on holiday in North Norfolk in September, so hope to catch the Blakeney gig. Looking forward to it.

Hi Salty,
we look forward to seeing you. Try the samphire & mussels when you are at Blakeney.

We guested at the lads practice night on Thursday. I believe that practice night is a well balance affair. One hour of sing and two hours in the Lobster.

Thank you to all for your massive welcome, even though you did wind us up a bit for not hailing from Norfolk.

Thanks again.

Hi Guys, It was nice to meet you all - We really hope your Shanty night goes well - remember to keep it balanced!

Another great day at Sheringham Potty festival. We (myself, my sister and husbands)felt this was your best performance ever (or do we think that every year? smile ) It's always great to listen to you guys but when we make the trip to Sheringham and can see your lovely friendly faces while we listen is the cherry on top. smile Thank you all

Just to say a personal thank you for your performance at Upper Sheringham Church during the funeral of my late father-in-law and fellow Shantyman, Robert Sheridan. Given the emotion shown by your members, particularly during your rendition of Windy Harbour, Robert was clearly well liked by you all and will be sorely missed. RIP Robert.

Brian Wednesday, 4 June 2014 21:23
Hi Amanda,
Thank you for your kind comments. Robert was a great guy and we will all miss him. He fitted into the shantymen ethos quite naturally and was a friend to us all. He will be missed and as you say 'Rest In Peace' Robert.
Brian.

Hi!

I came across The Sheringham Shantymen this evening while downloading some shanty songs. I'm an A.B. Seaman on a Norwegian Platform Supply Vessel and enjoy listening to shanty songs while sailing the North Sea.

I'm from the U.S. but have lived in Norway for the past 9 years. As well, I'm a descendant of the Upchers of Sheringham and surrounding Norfolk region, and my father is an avid "investigator" of our Upshur roots. I checked out your website and was surprised to see The Sheringham Shantymen's connection with the lifeboat 'Augusta' which was commissioned by Charlotte Upcher!

I hope to visit Sheringham one day with my father and see where our family hailed from. In the meantime, the voices of The Sheringham Shantymen will be heard on the bridge of MV Island Chieftain as long as I'm on watch...

Brian Sunday, 6 April 2014 20:34
Hi Jesse,
Nice to hear from you especially your interest in the Upcher family. Here in Sheringham we also have one of the last sailing & rowing lifeboats housed in its own shed, The Henry Ramey Upcher - Its a bit special.
Take care.
